Starting Thursday, October 22nd, East Union Middle School and High School families will have a new, convenient way to communicate with our attendance team through text messages.
Here's how it works:
- Receive absence alerts: You'll get a text when your child is marked absent.
- Reply directly: Confirm an absence, share the reason, or ask a question — all by text!
- Send notes by text: Simply take a photo of a parent note or doctor's note and send it directly to us.
- Report absences ahead of time: Know your child will be absent? Text us, and we'll update their attendance record.

Starting Thursday Oct. 22nd, East Union will be using a new text-based system to keep you informed when your child is absent — and to make it simple for you to respond, ask questions, and share notes, all without a phone call.
You will still be able to call in to the school using (641) 347-8421, this just presents a secondary option for parents!
Here's what's new:
You'll receive a text when your child is absent.
A message will come from (641) 900-1694 — save this number in your contacts so you never miss it.
You can text back directly. Reply to confirm an absence, share the reason, or ask a question. It's that simple.
You can send photos of notes by text. Need to submit a parent note or a doctor's note? Just take a photo and text it to the same number — no need to drop anything off at the office.
You can proactively text us. Know that your child will be absent? Send us a text to (641) 900-1694 and we’ll update the record accordingly.
The texts are powered by our AI attendance assistant, and every response goes directly to our attendance team and your child's record is updated accordingly.
