East Union Community Schools

Eagle Families: Iowa put in place the ability for districts to utilize up to five "virtual days" in order to make up the time missed due to adverse weather conditions. We were hoping to not utilize that option as we value face to face time with our students. However, with the weather we've experienced the last two weeks we've had more missed days already than in recent school years. If we have to miss more school due to weather conditions in the coming week(s), we will be utilizing virtual learning for those days. Elementary students will be bringing home a folder with work, middle and high school students will be bringing home their Chromebooks to receive and complete work from their teachers. The High School Boys/Girls Basketball game previously postponed with East Mills will be made up on Wednesday, 1/24 with Varsity girls beginning at 6 pm. No JV. We have also added a JV/V Boys basketball game at Essex on Thursday 2/1, with JV beginning at 6 pm.

Today East Union students participated in District Large Group Speech contest at Clarke. Each group created and delivered great entertainment for us! Lots of new, young talent was on full display today. We advanced 1 event to state in Ankeny on Saturday, February 3rd. Receiving a I rating, qualifying them for state is our Radio Broadcast: The Real Talk Members: Rebecca Young, Mia Tallmon, Emma Vandel, Kathryn Lack, and Khloe Parker. Receiving a II rating and performing extremely well today Radio Broadcast: The Know Members: Brock Driskill, Zayne Eslinger, Wyatt Proffitt, and Aiden Denton Group Improv: Amateurs Members: Zayne Eslinger, Jensen Waigand, Aiden Denton, and Brock Driskill.

The start time for Saturday's Boys Wrestling tournament at I-35 has been moved up to 9:30 am.

CD will not have an open concession stand for tonight's High School Basketball game. Reminder : JV Boys/Varsity Girls start at 5 pm Varsity Boys will follow the Varsity Girls

East Union High School Basketball WILL still be playing in Central Decatur tonight. However, the start time will now be 5 pm. We try not to make a habit of having activities when we're unable to have a day of school. But, road conditions have improved and nearly all area activities are proceeding as scheduled.

East Union CSD will be closed on Friday, January 19th due to winter weather/road conditions. Please stay safe!

We were just notified, due to teams dropping out, the JH Wrestling meet in Creston has been cancelled. The EU boys will be practicing in Creston with the Creston team.

Tonight's HWY 34 Wrestling meet in Creston has been cancelled due to teams dropping out. The girls will still have practice as normal.

Tonight's High School Basketball games vs. Seymour have been cancelled. These games won't be rescheduled, however, Senior Night will be rescheduled for another night later in the season, either 1/29 or 1/30. Communication will be sent once a date is determined.

Due to school cancellations on Tuesday, 1/16, the JH Basketball games at Diagonal and HS Basketball games at Wayne have been postponed. Makeup dates will be announced at a later time.

Due to extreme temperatures and road conditions East Union CSD will be closed on Tuesday. Please stay safe!!
